Has anyone heard the news? The Chevrolet Camaro is no more because production of the sixth-generation Coupe and Convertible ceased in December 2023. In the same month, we also said goodbye to the Dodge Challenger coupe and Charger muscle sedan, by the way.
The last one standing is currently the S650 seventh generation 2024 Ford Mustang, complete with EcoBoost turbo oomph and naturally-aspirate Coyote V8 power for the GT and Dark Horse models. Oh, yeah, there's even an ultra-limited supercharged V8 coming in the form of the Mustang GTD supercar later this year.

Meanwhile, the iconic Chevy Camaro is retired, and there's no successor planned – at least not for now and probably not with ICE power under the hood. As for Dodge, the excellent Hemi V8 is no more, and we also don't know what will happen with the Challenger nameplate going forward. Instead, only the Charger is sure to continue – albeit with a return to its classic two-door fastback coupe form and the novel EV lifestyle in its sights.

So, we had better cherish every possible moment we have with the soon-obsolete Hemi V8 models. For example, the videographer behind the Drag Racing and Car Stuff channel on YouTube loves Bradenton Motorsport Park and Orlando Speed World Dragway. Still, it now is expanding his reach to Edgewater Motor Sports Park in Cleves, Ohio, and Dragway 42 West Salem, Ohio. The motive is simple – he followed the trail of the smoke of a white Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, and for sure, it's a glorious one.

Allegedly, nothing is what it seems – so prepare to expect the unexpected. For example, the Hellcat is probably modified, as per the first race results. That skirmish involved a battle against a menacing classic Camaro that was probably three or four times more powerful than anything that came out of the factory gates that original model year. Its design and the meaty tires clearly showed that something was amiss there, and it soon all became clear.

So, the Hellcat lost the first yards to the classic 'Maro and needed everything it had to come out on top – the results were pretty impressive: 10.10s at 140 mph for the Mopar representative and 10.83s at 127 mph for GM's side. Close, but not close enough, right? Well, they say that boosted ten-speed S550 Ford Mustangs usually gap Hellcats, but that didn't happen next. Instead, the Dodge again delivered above and beyond the call of quarter-mile dragstrip duty with an impressive 9.69s (at 141 mph) versus a 10.07s (at 145 mph) pass!

Last but not least, we switch to Dragway 42, where (allegedly) the same Dodge brawled with an eighth-generation Chevrolet Impala. The latter was a true sleeper, as most probably wouldn't give a dime to bet on the 2000s sedan when going against a modified Hellcat. In the end, it lost – but it impressively held its own throughout the race and wrapped the spectacular pass with a 10.08s to 9.75s loss!
