A compact executive sedan that comes with either a four-cylinder turbocharged mill or a twin-turbo sixer, the G70 belts out no more than 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet (510 Nm). Pretty good numbers, but still, everyone and their god knows that the optional V6 can do better than that.
The G70 in the video below runs a cold air intake from the folks at Injen Technology and a JB4 piggyback tune, resulting in 450 ponies on 93 octane. With the help of a LOZIC transmission control unit map, it should prove immensely fast in the quarter-mile. But alas, the V6-powered sedan didn't stand a chance against a modified Audi S5.

A coupe rather than a sedan, the S5 is a 2022 model with 480 horsepower to its name. Highlight mods include a CTS Turbo intake, a catless downpipe, and a Stage 2 engine control unit map from 034 Motorsport. Both cars feature automatic transmissions with eight forward gears, and both flaunt all-wheel drive. When it comes to curb weight, the German car has the edge of the G70.

According to Sam CarLegion, we're dealing with a difference of 16 pounds. Make that 7-odd kilos if you prefer the metric system. Over two drag races, the S5 recorded a best of 11.3 seconds compared to 12.3 seconds in the quarter-mile. What's more, can you believe that Audi scooted to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) in just 3.3 seconds? The Genesis, by comparison, required 4.1 seconds.

Starting from a roll isn't advantageous for the G70 either. Be it 32 miles per hour (50 kilometers per hour) or 43 miles per hour (70 kilometers per hour), the S5 makes easy work of the South Korean challenger. Truth be told, the S5 uses a much superior torque-converter auto. More specifically, the ZF 8HP rather than Hyundai's A8 tranny.

Compatible with front-biased vehicles as well, the Hyundai A8 is also used by the Kia Stinger. Joined at the hip to the G70, the Stinger was discontinued last year due to dwindling sales and Kia pivoting to zero-emission vehicles. The G70 is expected to be replaced by an electric vehicle as well, although it remains to be seen if that's actually the case by the end of the decade.

GT1 is what Kia calls the alleged replacement for the Stinger, an electric sedan with a driving range of 700 to 800 kilometers (435 to 497 miles) from 113.2 kilowatt hours' worth of battery cells. The most powerful specification is believed to pack 450 kW (603 horsepower) from two electric motors.

Over at Volkswagen Group-owned Audi, the German automaker's nomenclature will be changed in a rather puzzling fashion. Remember the e-tron SUV turning into the Q8 e-tron? How about the Volkswagen ID.4-sized Q4 e-tron? The takeaway is that electric vehicles will bear even numbers exclusively from here on out, whereas combustion-engined vehicles will feature odd numbers. In other words, the B9-generation A4 will be replaced by the B10-gen Audi A5. Today's A6 will be called A7.

Last week, Audi confirmed that it had delivered 1,895,240 vehicles worldwide in 2023. Of those, all-electric vehicles made up 178,000 deliveries, an increase of 51 percent compared to 2022. Otherwise put, EVs accounted for 9.4% of total deliveries.
