McLaren’s Special Operations division has been busy this year, creating the one-off X-1 supercar for Pebble Beach.
They set new benchmarks in supercar design with that one, but fortunately they had time to do something with the MP4-12C. On Friday, September 21st, they will be unveiling this, the MP4-12C Fire Black Singapore Edition at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix.
Only three will ever be made and they will cost a scarcely believable S$1.28 million, which is €800,000 or $1.04 million.
That’s a lot of money, and we don’t know if the car has that much to offer. The body of the car somewhat mimics the Vodafone-McLaren Mercedes F1. But perhaps given the fact the Singapore is a night race, they wanted to make it sinister and dark.
As such, the body is finished in Fire Black with accents in Rocket Red. Perhaps this is a multi-layer paintjob with a very deep finish to justify such a pricetag. At he same time ,the standard wheels have been replaced by lighter ones, and the front end styling is changed a little.
