McLaren have officially announced a new car which will soon be added to their lineup. It is a convertible version of the MP4-12C, simply called the 12C Spider - a simpler and better name that is just better than that of its hardtop counterpart. From a design standpoint, we don’t really expect too many changes, but we are expecting the Spider to be even better looking than the coupe.
Also, considering the fact that it shares the hardtop car’s stiff carbon fiber “MonoCell” chassis, the removal of the roof has not compromised the stiffness of the body - or so they say. The 12C Spider will be powered by the same 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, but it gets a power boost, to achieve a horsepower figure of 625 (to counter the added weight of the carbon fiber folding roof mechanism).

The car should be officially revealed within the next few days, and we will let you know as soon as we have more official information on the matter. They have also released a video of Jensen Button talking about a car, but they say that it could be either his F1 car or the new 12C Spider.
