As we once said in a story called "Buy Your Dream Car and Lay Off the Internet For a While", the world wide web's power to amplify consumerism can easily make a supercar owner unhappy, simply because the web reveals the next model by the time the said owner gets to take delivery of his ride.
Case in point with the freaking-tastic McLaren 675LT. The 666 horsepower (make that 675 PS, you metric system fans) Longtail might have exited the spotlights recently, due to MSO HS deliveries kicking off, but we're glad to bring the LT back to your attention. Oh, and by the way, here's a road video of the MSO HS (perhaps you prefer to call it the 688 HS), in case you missed it.

The reason for which we're once again focusing on the 675 is the Woking machine's stellar track performance. The Longtail has recently been put through its paces on the Anglesey Circuit.

The Welsh track saw the full-time aficionados over at Evo Magazine recroding a lap time in the 675LT. As you'll be able to see in the final part of the clip, the more powerful, lighter 650S, if we can call it so, managed to "tie" the P1's Anglesey time.

So, why the quotes? Well, first of all, adding the best sector lap times meant the two McLarens delivered the same performance, while using the more accurate full lap measurements meant the 675LT was a blink of an eye behind the gas-electric Mac.

Secondly, such a comparison involves the 675 using the optional Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tires (the ones that gave the Huracan's ABS a hard time during the Sport Auto Nurburgring test), while the P1 time used here saw the hypercar fitted with slightly less sticky Pirelli P-Zero Corsa - the time for the Trofeo R-shoed P1 is also provided and it obviously sees the hybrid taking the lead.

Also, you should keep in mind that we're dealing with a short track here.

However, the superb footage you can find below also shows another great use for rubber and we'll let you guess what this is all about.
