Those of you following the supercar world closely are well aware of the rarefied air in the McLaren tuning realm. And when talking about the 570S, the aftermarket choices are even less abundant than in the case of the 12C or the 650S.
However, US developer AWE Tuning has now come up with an exhaust system for the Sports Series machine. You can get a sample of the Woking machine's custom voice in the piece of footage below. With the clip offering scenes from both outside and inside the 570S, it provides a good taste of the aural treats offered here.
Without turning to an ECU remap, which would lead to warranty issues, the system is said to deliver maximum gains (not at the top) of 17 hp and 15 lb-ft of twist. We're dealing with performance catalysts and the rest of the exhaust and stainless steel was the material of choice. According to the aftermarket developer, the X-pipe was tuned to deliver "a refined exotic tone."
Another advantage comes when the already featherweight Mac gets to meet the scales, as the system shaves 15 lbs off the machine's weight. When it comes to such beasts, the warranty is always an important factor, with the company explaining it has also covered this aspect. To be more precise, while the catalytic converter gets a one-year warranty, the rest of the exhaust comes with lifetime coverage.
While the first clip below delivers the dB samples mentioned above, the second allows us to take a peek at the development process of the hardware being discussed here.
P.S.: While it might seem the soundtrack is not as vicious as it could be, we have to keep in mind we're talking about a 570S here, a beast that must also favor coziness alongside the sheer velocity McLarens have accustomed us with.
