Mazda Presents Minagi Concept Ahead of Geneva Debut

The 2011 Geneva Auto Show to open its doors in March is going to be a very crowded venue from the point of view of carmakers attending it and, as far as Mazda is concerned, the company will fully try to benefit from the attention we all pay to this moment. The Japanese manufacturer will thus present at the Swiss show the so-called Minagi concept compact crossover SUV that previews the company's new design theme nicknamed "Kodo" (Soul of Motion).

In other words, this is where the Mazda design department is heading towards, so this new concept has the most chances to make it to production if enough positive feedback is received after Geneva.

Besides the visual appearance, Minagi will also employ Mazda's Skyactiv technologies, thus demonstrating once again that the Japanese manufacturer is also focused on improving mileage. Still, not much is known about what's fitted under the hood of the concept, but the company assures us that this "symbolizes the evolution of the Mazda brand as it begins a new era."

Whatever these marketing words mean, the concept will be using a Skyactiv engine mated to a Skyactiv transmission. Although we're becoming a little obsessed with the word "Skyactiv", we have to write it once again because Mazda has also worked on the weight of the car and installed a Skyactiv body and chassis, thus pushing efficiency one step further.

As a conclusion, we're looking forward to see this new concept live and it seems that the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, which runs from March 1 to 13, 2011, is becoming a lot more interesting than the shows we've seen on the other side of the ocean.
