Mazda may be displaying the platform of the all-new 2015 MX5 / Miata at the 2014 New York Auto Show, but the company hasn’t forgotten about the current model. The company has introduced a 25th Anniversary model to celebrate its sports car milestone, which took place on February 14 this year.
You know somebody loves a car when they hand-select the parts for the 2.0-liter engine. This is exactly what Mazda engineers did with the MX-5 25th Anniversary. The company explains that it has chosen the best flywheels, pistons and connecting rods from the production lots.

As a result, Mazda brags the engine “revs even more freely, delivering an extraordinary response, precision acceleration and a deeply satisfying engine note.“

The manual version delivers 165 hp, while the automatic comes with 156 hp. Moreover, the first receives special Bilstein shock absorbers. The connection to the road is established via 17-inch ten-spoke wheels featuring a dark gunmetal finish and using Bridgestone Potenza RE05A 205/45R17-84W tires.

We are talking about a Retractable hardtop MX-5 here, with the roof, windscreen frame and door mirrors being finished in Black, while the body uses Mazda’s favorite colour, Soul Red.

Climbing aboard, we find an Almond leather finish for the seats and door cards, while Black leather is used for the steering wheel, handbrake lever, armrest and gearshift surround. The list of goodies also includes aluminum pedals and Piano Black trim.

Mazda will only build 100 units of the 25th Anniversary MX-5, with the vehicle set to go on sale in the US later in the year, with the pricing being unannounced for the moment.
