Besides quality, comfort, and performance, the new young-minded generation of yacht owners values flexibility and adaptability when it comes to their recreational watercraft. Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) is quick to oblige by creating vessels that are meticulously tailored to meet the owner's preferences.
The latest vessel launched by the Ancona-based shipbuilder is the 146-foot (44.3-meter) Maverick, an explorer yacht that is both luxurious and capable of long-range journeys.

Maverick is the first of three hulls in the Flexplorer 146 line that are currently under construction at the Italian yard and was commissioned by seasoned yacht owner Tom Schroder, who is the major shareholder of CdM. Its exterior lines were penned by Hydro Tec, who is also responsible for the yacht's naval architecture and engineering, while the interior design was a joint effort between Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini.

Designed to raise the standards of aesthetics, comfort, and livability, Maverick boasts a custom layout and luxurious features that set it apart from the other two hulls in the series, such as a large infinity pool on the aft deck, a vast outdoor beach club, and lavish living quarters.

"The three Flexplorer 146s currently under construction perfectly show the concept's inherent flexibility, with each unit being significantly distinct from one another," commented CdM's CEO and sales director Vasco Buonpensiere. "Despite each one being unique in its own way, they all share the same features that enable safe exploration of remote destinations while providing utmost comfort and all the amenities expected of a true luxury yacht."

The very essence of the Maverick yacht lies in its flexibility and adaptability. Touted as a "true explorer vessel," it features a robust displacement hull and a lightweight aluminum superstructure and is able to offer a transatlantic range of well above 5,000 nautical miles (9,260 km).

Moreover, it is designed with a range of features geared toward functionality, so it can adapt to different sailing situations and carry big tenders, all the while offering guests onboard the highest degree of comfort. One of these features is a custom-built A-frame crane with a lifting capacity of 4.4 tonnes. This powerful crane is used to launch and retrieve a custom 31-foot (9.5-meter) Rivellini tender and an A27 sailing boat, and it neatly conceals in the aft deck's flooring when not in use.

A 22-millimeter "ice belt" above and below the waterline is also part of the build and ensures safe navigation at high latitudes where it is likely to encounter frosty waters. This is a feature that will surely come in handy, as the owner of Maverick plans to put the yacht's strength to the test in the waters surrounding Iceland, Greenland, and the northern Canadian coasts and estuaries.

Characterized by a contemporary design with neutral colors, high-end materials, and expansive glazing throughput, the interior is created to reflect the owner and his family's personal style. Accommodation onboard Maverick is offered for up to 13 guests across seven spacious cabins, including two owner's staterooms on the main deck and upper deck, and a staff of six.

In terms of luxury amenities, the explorer yacht includes a large infinity pool on the aft deck that can be covered to serve as additional storage space when underway. It also has collapsible bulwarks on either side that extend to the cockpit and fold down while at anchor to create a vast outdoor beach club spanning nearly 1,500 square feet (135 square meters). A gym, a sauna, and a diving center add up to the list of luxury amenities onboard this boat.

As for the yacht's performance, Maverick is equipped with twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines that propel it to a top speed of 14 knots and additional zero-speed stabilizers that guarantee enhanced comfort on board.
