Felipe Massa's first test in a Formula One car proved to be a success on Monday, as the Brazilian completed a total of 100 km in the Ferrari F2007 at Fiorano circuit. Although he was scheduled to run in the morning, a thunderstorm prevented the 28-year old driver from making his projected outing until the afternoon.

He instead did some short laps in the rain, before coming back to the track later during yesterday (after the surface had dried). The Ferrari F2007 he drove around in was fitted with GP2-spec tires, yet Massa felt totally comfortable getting behind the wheel of an F1 car once again. After he completed the test, the Brazilian driver revealed that he feels just as good as before the accident in Hungary.

The moment I got into the car it was exactly like before the accident, as if nothing had happened. It was important to demonstrate to the people who work with me, that nothing has changed, that I can be competitive and that I can contribute to what will be the new car and to next year’s fight for the title,” Massa told the journalists present at Fiorano on Monday afternoon.

I knew that everything was alright 95%, but after today I can even cancel the last 5% of doubt, I still might have had,” added the Brazilian driver.

Despite feeling positive about his quick recovery, Massa insisted that he will not be able to step into the F60 this year. He will, instead, join his team at the Interlagos race this weekend, where he is scheduled to wave the chequered flag for the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday.

It would have been great coming back to race in Interlagos, because it’s a track where I’ve always brought out the best, with two wins and three pole positions and just missing the victory in a World Championship, but I will be as happy just being there supporting my team,” said Massa.
