One of the numerous new concepts and production models coming to the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January is this, the 201 Maserati Kubang Concept, making its North American show debut there, according to Detroit Free Press.
This vehicle previews a production Maserati SUV that will be built in the US and might be called the Cinqueporte (five-door in Italian). In case you’re curious, the name of the concept is actually borrowed from a wind in Indonesia.

The platform is borrowed from the Grand Cherokee, but the proportions have changed a lot. The Modena automaker has said the Kubang will be offered with a new generation of "high-tech Maserati propriety engines" designed in house by Paolo Martinelli, Head of the Maserati Powertrain Department. The new units will be coupled to an AT 8 speed automatic transmission.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
