Of the major European brands Fiat has under its cupola, Maserati is pretty much the only one that's been sorted out to a visible degree. However, changes are still being made as part of a 2014-18 brand strategy.

The Alfieri concept that was shown a coupe of months ago as the Geneva Motor Show has been confirmed for production. Maserati even went as far as to announce the engines and the fact that it will be available with all-wheel drive.

Power will be provided by a wide range of V6 engines, starting with a 410 PS (301 kW) base model and followed by 450 PS (331 kW) and 520 PS (382 kW) versions with all-wheel drive. The GranTurismo coupe and convertibles will be kept in production, so Alfieri will likely play the role of an entry-level sportscar.

The Maserati version of the F-Type will be preceded by a production version of the Kubang SUV concept shown in 2011. It will be called the Levante and will come with an even wider pallet of engines, all couple with all-wheel drive as standard:

  • V6 petrol with 350 PS (257 kW) and 425 PS (312 kW)
  • V6 diesel with 250 PS (184 kW), 275 PS (202 kW) and 340 PS (250 kW)
  • V8 petrol with over 560 PS (over 412 kW)

Updates for the brand new Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans are also planned. Both models currently pack a 410 PS V6, which will be bumped up to 450 PS. Twin-turbo V8s with upwards of 560 PS will also be offered on both models in conjunction with all-wheel drive. As a reminder, the current Ghibli model doesn't come with a V8, and the one in the Quattroporte currently has only 530 PS and is available only with rear-wheel drive.

Our say: Everything has a wiff of "Lotus" about it. Billions invested into a lineup that might or might not work. Let's just hope we're not right.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
