The US market has its own affinities towards BMW models and the Germans know it. Looking to supply every possible need, they introduced the Sport Wagon (Touring in Europe) 3 Series in North America alongside the F30 iteration of the model.
It was done not only to broaden the variety of models you can have your pick out of but also to appeal to a certain demand that has been building up in the US.

The practical character of the Touring 3er is an irresistible character feature for most family men and women. Of course, you can also get the X1, X3 and X5 models to soothe your space needs but the 3 Series handles better than all of them.

However, not long after the Sport Wagon started selling over there, it was joined by yet another model, the Gran Turismo. This is a car that either makes perfect sense or seems to be complete rubbish. There’s no middle ground. Apparently, in the US, the GT makes perfect sense.

Otherwise, how could anyone justify the sales figures that quickly toppled the ones of the Touring model? Furthermore, the Gran Turismo is also more expensive and brings even more space. The only problem it faces is the styling that isn’t exactly sexy. It’s more like a bloated 3er Touring.

Even so, a lot of people went for it and some even decided to tune it a bit, like the car featured in the adjacent photos. It’s now riding on huge 22’’ XIX X23 wheels with black windows, machined faces, and a chromed lips, looking extremely tall.

While we wouldn’t do this kind of thing to any BMW, let alone one that was designed for practicality and comfort, some people like to be special... What do your think?
