After all these years of covering their builds, most of which are over-the-top with exaggerated looks, Mansory can still throw in a pleasant surprise. Case at hand, meet the new Land Rover Defender 90 Black Edition, which is certainly not bad at all.
This vehicle comes with a custom body kit, has an overhauled interior, and boasts more power than the stock one. And if it wasn't for some of the exterior add-ons, it would've been perfect.
Speaking of the exterior, this Land Rover Defender 90 has the usual attachments at the sides, front, and rear. It comes with additional lighting units below the main clusters and above the front windshield, features fender flares, a new hood that bears the tuner's logo, a very racy diffuser with an integrated brake light in the middle, and a pair of roof-mounted spoilers.
Mansory's signature can also be seen on the tailgate and on the wheels that measure 10x24-inch in size and were wrapped in 295/30 tires. The entire vehicle has a satin-black look with the occasional orange accent here and there. And this being Mansory, visible carbon fiber is also on deck, and it's not bad at all, especially since it's not the flashier forged carbon.
Following a similar theme to the exterior, the cockpit has a black and orange look. The former is the dominating hue, and it comes in the form of suede upholstery wrapped around most touchable surfaces. The orange piping on the seats and other highlights in the same hue here and there contribute to the enhanced look of the 4x4. The seatbacks, headrests, seatbelts, steering wheel, and even the headliner wear the Mansory logo. And it is a Rolls-Royce-like starlight headliner if you missed it.
We will now proceed to tell you about the firepower, which was boosted to 650 ps (641 hp/478 kW) and 870 Nm (642 lb-ft) of torque. The tuner says the 0-100 kph (0 to 62 mph) is a 4.7-second affair, with the top speed standing at 250 kph (155 mph). What they did not say, however, is what engine this Defender 90 uses.
However, it is likely the V8, a supercharged 5.0-liter unit that yanks out 525 ps (518 hp/386 kW) and 625 Nm (461 lb-ft) of torque. If that's the case, then it is half a second slower compared to the one tuned by Mansory and tops out at 240 kph (150 mph).
Christened the Mansory Defender Black Edition, this project is limited to ten copies only, according to the company responsible for the modifications. It is unknown how much they are asking for each example, but since every ride that Mansory tuned tends to cost a small fortune, chances are this one follows the same recipe.
