Remember last year's Nurburgring mayhem, when the Green Hell used to have speed limits? While the issue is now gone, a Ring aficionado decided to take a speed gun to the track, measuring the speed of cars taking part in a Touristenfahrten (Tourist Days) event.

As far as the Nordschleife happenings are concerned, you'll notice the cornering speeds aren't necessarily related to the abilities of the cars being recorded, with a 991 Porsche 911 and an Mk II Volkswagen Golf easily proving this.

Fortunately, nothing bad happened while the guy was checking out the velocity numbers of the Ring tourists, but, once BridgeToGantry (BTG) brought the YouTube clip to the public's attention, many became worried about the potentially dangerous consequences of such a practice becoming a habit.

It's not difficult to imagine at least two types of such consequences.

Scenario Number OneDriver notices laser gun, wants to play the brave card for the camera and ends up crashing.

Scenario Number TwoDriver sees the "radar", instinctively slams on the brakes and causes a crash.

At first, it might seem like all the panic is silly. But if we consider the fact that the velocity values were measured at Schwedenkreuz and remember the kind of crashes that take place over there without anybody adding extra pressure, the worries suddenly start to appear justified.

You know, Schwedenkreuz, the kind of corner that likes to put Renault Megane RS hatches on their roofs and eat Audi R8s alive. BMWs? Very few of those who become oversteer victims through SX (the abbreviation of the bend's name) manage to avoid an accident - here's a majestic crash save example.

Heck, this twist is famous for managing to create double impacts, so perhaps it would be better if the laser gun stayed outside the Green Hell.

P.S.: All the beeping you'll hear in the video comes from the gun, as it's working to lock on its target - a steady noise makes for proper tracking.
