The trouble with telling lies is that it eventually catches up to you, and lying your way out of trouble is not always the winning solution. That’s the lesson one young man from China learned the hard way.
While some men would bleed for his ladies, Tang chose to shed his own blood to avoid keeping a promise he had made to his girlfriend. Initially telling her that he had come from a wealthy family, he also promised her to buy her an expensive car, The Shangai.ist informs, citing reports in the local media.
As the months went buy, the girl, named Yang, kept pressing him to keep his promise and he kept sweet-talking her, hoping she would forget. But you know women never really forget something like this, so Yang didn’t either so Tang had to come up with a second plan.
Earlier this month, she and Tang and her 2 brothers ended a car dealership. Tang had told them he had already put in a deposit of 10,000 yuan ($1,460) for the 700,000 yuan ($102,000), and at one point, he excused himself to go outside and grab the rest of the cash.
And here’s where things get really stupid. Obviously, the guy didn’t have the money. He took the small amount that he did have and ran into a nearby supermarket, where he purchased a fruit knife and used it to slash his own wrists.
He then ran back into the dealership and told the 3 that he had been attacked and robbed of the rest of the cash – and he had the signs of struggle to prove it. In Tang’s mind, his girlfriend should have been happy that he got out of it alive and forget about the car-buying stuff.
Instead, she and her brothers called the cops to report the robbery and the attack, and the truth eventually came up during the investigation. Tang was sentenced to a fine and 10 days behind bars for lying to the police, and we have a feeling he’s single, too.
