Canadian manufacturer Magnum Cars has revealed its brand new MK5 sportscar, the “racecar performance with supercar build quality and styling” vehicle they’ve been teasing the past two weeks.
The company’s first road going model, the Magnum MK5 is a lightweight rear-wheel drive two-seater sportscar aimed at the recently-unveiled VUHL 05 or the already familiar Ariel Atom and KTM X-Bow.
Powered by a four-cylinder engine that delivers 250 BHP via a six-speed sequential gearbox, the MK5 weighs only 545 kilograms (1,200 lbs) and has an impressive power-to-weight ration of 460 BHP per ton. This figure enables it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 3.2 seconds, while top speed is rated at 149 miles per hour (240 km/h).
The vehicle features carbon fiber composite seats, six-point race-spec harness, quick release steering wheel with integrated laptimer and data acquisition system and rear-view monitor and camera. Pricing for the Magnum MK5 is set at $139,000 before taxes and the Canadian company says it will build only 20 examples per year.
