Nissan officials announced today that Austrian manufacturer Magna Steyr was set to build Infiniti’s new entry-level car, as of 2014. The car is expected to be a small, premium offering, which will compete with similar cars such as the Audi A3 or the new A-Class.
The Graz-based manufacturer will probably produce between 50,000 - 60,000 units per year, and as previously mentioned, will use Mercedes-sourced 4-cylinder engines. The link with the German manufacturer goes even further, as the new car will use Mercedes underpinnings in the form of the MFA compact platform, also used in the A- and B-Class.
The new baby-Infiniti is expected to be built in the Graz plant, along with the Aston Martin Rapide, Peugeot RCZ and Mini Countryman.
