Being multiple world champion and driving for a team that equals success in the Great Circus, Alonso insisted after the race that everybody in the Scuderia garage should keep his feet on the ground and continue to work hard for the final stages of the season. That's experience talking. And a few days later, his boss Luca di Montezemolo echoed those comments while meeting with his employees in the Logistics pavilion.
“Let's keep our feet on the ground, because we have not actually won anything yet. We were not useless before and we have not become genii now: we are just a team that never surrenders,” said the Ferrari boss.
“However, we have not actually won anything yet. I have said this to all of you before: each one of us must aim for pole in our own roles, going about our business in a level headed fashion, with concentration and determination, then we can add up the figures in Abu Dhabi,” he added.
While all seems to be lost for Ferrari in the manufacturers' race, where they trail both Red Bull and McLaren by 52 and 25 points respectively, Alonso is looked upon as the title favorite with a couple of races to go. The 2-time world champion's advantage from rival Mark Webber is 11 points, while Hamilton sits 21 points adrift in 3rd place.
As far as his title chances and the way they changes after the Korean GP win, Alonso surprised everyone by saying: “In Korea I have only guaranteed to be fighting in Abu Dhabi in the last race of the season. The odds remain in favor of Red Bull.”
