LS2 Helmets announces their first flip-up helmet to receive Snell 2010 certification, the FF394 Epic. While the Epic upgrade does not seem to differ too much from the FF394 base model, the Snell certification ensures that it meets and exceeds the DOT standards.
This helmet comes with all the features of its predecessor: a lightweight aerodynamic design with tricomposite fiberglass shell, with an antibacterial moisture-wicking removable liner made from a technical fabric which is of course, washable, and toll-less quick-release Fog Fighter visor.

The LS2 Epic retails for $299.95, which is a decent price for a Snell-approved flip-up lid, especially for those riders who have been searching for Snell-certified gear for so long. Available in black only at this time.

While the debate between Snell and DOT might go on for a long time, we'll refrain from judging on how well helmets complying with these standards will protect the riders in case of a crash. Each accident has it's own way of development and in each case things can go either bad or well.
