If you want a performance-oriented pickup truck in the mid-size segment in the United States of America, you’re treated by Chevrolet with the Colorado ZR2. There’s even a modded version with know-how from American Expedition Vehicles called the Bison, but nevertheless, the output of the LGZ engine stays put at 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque.
The 3.6-liter V6, however, can be upgraded with an Edelbrock 1740 supercharger by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. The modifications package is called ZR2-L Colorado, and the output should be improved by 35 percent. That’s 416 horsepower and heaven knows how much torque.

According to the video preview uploaded by the Brighton, Michigan-based tuner on YouTube, prospective customers can expect 50-state legal CARB certification. That means that even California can enjoy a mid-size pickup with off-road chops and more than 400 horsepower on full song. A lift kit, bigger wheels and tires, and exterior decals are also included in the package.

What’s most surprising is that Lingenfelter Performance Engineering promises “improved towing capability” and “improved fuel economy.” Heading over to the U.S. website and configurator, the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado with the 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 promises up to 7,000 pounds, 18 miles to the gallon in the city, and 25 miles per gallon out on the highway.

The roof and sport bars also appear to be different from stock, along with the auxiliary LED lighting and spare wheel in the bed. It should be mentioned the ZR2-L Colorado is under development as we speak, which is why the tuner couldn’t give definitive numbers. Pricing information is a mystery as well.

People who would rather have the Colorado ZR2 without any modifications from the aftermarket can expect to pony up $42,495 for the Extended Cab and Long Box while the Bison upgrade adds $5,750 to the tally. Two special editions – the Dusk and Midnight – are available as optional extras at $3,215. The Power Package adds a performance air intake and cat-back exhaust system for $1,850 of your hard-earned cash.
