Compact luxury cars are a big market right now. BMW seems to have capitalized well on this with the new 1-Series, which is a bit bigger than before, while Audi worked its magic on the MQB platform and created the third-generation A3.
While Lexus might be off the pace of its German rivals, but undoubtably the CT200h is a cool luxury offering, even if it’s still a bit boring. The Japanese five-door gas-electric model is reportedly poised to see its sales increased by 25% in 2012, but that’s not the full extent of Toyota’s ambitions.
According to a recent interview by Ward’s Auto with Mark Templin, Lexus U.S. group vice president told that the “possibility to build other vehicles off that(CT200h) platform” is likely.
“We’ll probably end up in the 18,000-unit range this year, just based on the supply that we can get,” the VP told the aforementioned source.
