As part of the brand’s future Speed Champions range, which launches in March 2015, LEGO has just announced they will release, for the first time ever, a genuine LEGO McLaren Formula 1 car - 2014’s MP4-29. The new collection also includes two Porsche GT3 racers in one package and a couple of the most famous hypercars currently on the market.
The MP4-29-inspired kit is only a part of the Danish brand’s Speed Champions range, which launches in March next year and incorporates top-shelf car and single seater models. Apart from some partially refreshed old Racers sets (specifically the race-Ferraris and Iveco Transporter), reports are the new sets include three of the top hypercars.

This means we’re about to see the awesome McLaren P1 along the other two members of the latest real-world trio: the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. The P1 comes equipped with cones, a pleased-looking mini-figure driver and some other useful tools.

As to the LEGO race car in question, the Formula 1 single seater will come along its Mercedes-McLaren pitbox, so things can stay as close as possible to the actual racing feeling. We’re not quite sure what the price tags will be like, but they should be affordable enough for any auto and LEGO enthusiast to get one.

No clear result for the real life McLaren race car

Meanwhile, in the real world, the McLaren MP4-29 designed by Tim Goss for McLaren had some good races and some bad ones as well. It's driven in this Formula 1 season by 2009 World Drivers’ Champion Jenson Button and debutant Kevin Magnussen, who has replaced Sergio Perez after he won the 2013 Formula Renault 3.5 Series title. The car has been designed to use Mercedes-AMG's new 1.6-liter V6 turbocharged hybrid power unit.
