LEGO Chevrolet Camaro Turns Into Transformer Bumblebee

Lego builder Ralph Savelsberg has recently surprised his fans with yet another stunning creation, a Chevrolet Camaro model. Not only does the Lego car look very close to the classic, but what makes it really special is it’s ability to transform in a robot. Yes, in the actual Bumblebee.

The Lego Camaro was built as part of Lugnuts’ 83rd build challenge, called Only in America. After approaching Japanese vehicles, British cars and even those from current and former Communist countries, the online club for Lego car enthusiasts is running this year’s contest on typical American rides.

This is why the Brother Brick contributor decided to chose the classic Chevrolet Camaro. Only he decided he could spice things up a notch by adding up a bit of Transformers to it. After a quick look, it seems pretty much like all of the other cars Savelsberg built, it has studs on top, brick-built windows and, while some bits of it are built sideways, the construction does not look particularly complicate.

However, the car quickly changes into Michael Bay’s Transformers Bumblebee character, as it serves as the creator’s latest addition to the ever-growing collection of vehicles from films and TV series. According to Ralph, the main difficulty when building a Transformer is making it look good both as a robot and as a vehicle, whilst keeping it sturdy enough to manipulate it during the transformation.

Modern-day Transformers are far more complicated than the toys that accompanied the original animated series form the eighties, which adds to the challenge. Fortunately, Bumblebee is not the most complicated of the lot. I based the transformation sequence on that of Bumblebee toys, with only a few modifications required to make it work in Lego,” Salvsberg describes the Camaro.

Well, we’re guessing there is no need to tell you guys we love it...
