April's lineup for Microsoft's Game Pass on cloud, console, and PC isn't the most generous, but there are some gems hidden among the ruins, glistening in the distance. I counted LEGO 2K Drive, Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, and the stunning-looking Harold Halibut.
LEGO 2K Drive is a great game for adults and children alike. It's already available on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud; sorry, PC players. It has eye-candy graphics with a Skittles-like color pallet that will make you crave sweets out of the blue, and the gameplay is quite well put together for a well-disguised kart racer.

The story is a tongue-in-cheek sort of affair, where it doesn't take itself too seriously. This sets a happy mood for the player, where relaxation is the goal. The sound design complements the game's art direction with great SFX (sound effects), especially the LEGO ones, and therapy-like music.

You can tackle it single-player as well as online, but just watch out for those pesky microtransactions. At least at launch, they were more than a bit annoying. The best part about playing a LEGO game is that you can build your own rides, boats, or ATVs, which change on a dime, depending on the type of terrain you're driving on.

In my review, I gave it an 80 out of 100 and said it was a game I wish I had while growing up. I completely recommend this game after a hard day's work, especially now that it's free on Game Pass.

LEGO 2K Drive is on sale on the PlayStation Store until April 11 if you're not on Xbox Game Pass. It's currently $20 for the PS4 version or 23 bucks for PlayStation 5.

The LEGO racing game was developed by Visual Concepts, which makes the WWE 2K and NBA 2K franchises. It was published by the Take-Two-owned 2K, the very same leading company behind the Mafia trilogy, the Bioshock, Civilization, and XCOM series, among other well-known titles. Most recently, Take-Two Interactive Software acquired Gearbox Software from the clutches of Embracer Group for $460 million.

Gearbox is most famous for the Borderlands series, which even has a movie coming up in 2024. Eli Roth is directing it and stars Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gina Gershon, Bobby Lee, Florian Munteanu, and Benjamin Byron Davis, who portrays Marcus in the game series, but also the infamous Dutch van der Linde in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The two other games worth mentioning from the Game Pass list are Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, coming to cloud, console, and PC on April 11, and the exciting Harold Halibut. The latter is a handmade narrative game where the story unfolds aboard a submerged spaceship city in an alien ocean. It's available starting April 16 on Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S, meaning no last-gen Xbox One or older.

The other titles that likely won't get downloaded so much are Lil Gator Game (Cloud, Console, and PC) – April 4, EA Sports PGA Tour (Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S) EA Play – April 4, Kona (Cloud and Console) – April 9, and Botany Manor (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) – April 9.

Three titles out of seven to brag home about isn't all that bad. It could be worse, but it could sure be better. Usually, Game Pass comes in twos per month, so maybe two weeks from now, we'll have something that will really hit home.

To be fair, among others, we did get Diablo 4, The Quarry, MLB The Show 24, Evil West, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 - Turbocharged, F1 23, and Superhot: Mind Control Delete a while back, so overall, there's plenty of Game Pass titles to choose from.

Other games will be leaving the subscription service on April 15: Amnesia Collection (Cloud, Console, and PC), Amnesia: Rebirth (Cloud, Console, and PC), Back 4 Blood (Cloud, Console, and PC), Phantom Abyss (Cloud, Console, and PC), Research and Destroy (Cloud, Console, and PC) and Soma (Cloud, Console, and PC).
