Lamborghini Urus Makes US Debut

Lamborghini is a quintessential supercar brand. Two models with different variants is all these purist Italians dare to make, but that’s about to change. By about 2015, this will change, as either this interesting SUV or a four-door saloon called the Estoque should enter production.
The Urus SUV made its official debut at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, where Lamborghini CEO Stefan Winkelmann said that if his company is to be successful, they’d have to sell 3,000 worldwide. That’s a lot more than last year’s production of V10 and V12 supercars, so quite a tall order.

Right now, the car filmed by BrianZuk at the 2012 McCall Motorworks Revival, where it made its US debut, is only a concept. But besides being a bid to boost profitability, it’s also a technological showcase.

Ironically, this is also Lamborghini’s bid to low its overall emissions. While the Aventador and Gallardo use V10 and V12 engines, this SUV will likely offer a twin-turbo V8 from Audi, and maybe even a hybrid powertrain.
