Lada Driver Fails to Stop in Time - Causes Severe Crash

Old cars have bad brakes - it is a well-known fact. They have drums instead of disks, soft suspension and poorly-performing tires. This is why when a crisis situation presents itself (emergency braking maneuver or swerving around an obstacle in the road, for instance), old cars such as the Lada Riva will perform very badly.
As you can see in this video, the driver behind the wheel of the Lada was clearly not paying attention to the road ahead, and when he does notice that he has to brake, he realizes that there simply isn’t enough time (or distance) to achieve it successfully, so he decides to swerve right in order to get past, however, with the bad handling characteristics shown by the Lada, it leans too much, and in the end he just ends up crashing into a bunch of other cars.

The moral of all this? If you have a ‘classic’ car, drive it slowly and enjoy the experience, because if you drive it quickly, you will be very likely to crash, and that’s bad for several reasons: old cars are not safe, and you will most likely get hurt even in low-speed impacts, most were not built to take corners too vigurously, and even some rear-wheel driven cars will understeer and you would ruin something which nowadays should be looked at and admired, and not necessarily driven at the limit.
