Although Robert Kubica's new team in the Formula One Championship hasn't exactly stand out with some impressive performances last season, the Pole looks very confident preparing for his one-year stint with Renault. The former BMW driver already got to test the R30 a few times this month and admitted his enthusiasm over Renault's 2010 challenger.
According to Kubica, things are moving into the right direction in terms of development, as the car seems more performing by the test. Additionally, he admitted some new parts will be integrated into the single-seater by the season opening Bahrain GP, which will likely make the car even easier to drive that at the present time.
“Although the bad weather has affected our track time, we've made a lot of progress, particularly last week in Jerez where we found some good performance,” said Kubica after the second test of the season, at Jerez.
“There are a few things still to come for the other tests that will make me feel even better in the car and which will also make it quicker, but we're definitely moving in the right direction,” added the Polish driver.
Unfortunately for him and Renault, the upcoming test at Jerez (this week) may not be so conclusive as initially expected, as rain is once again expected to hit the Spanish region throughout the second part of this week. Kubica is scheduled to do the last 2 days of running on the Spanish track (Friday and Saturday), after which the team will have one more chance of trying out the new car, at Barcelona, the week after.
