Remy Ads New Partner for its Electric Motors Delivery

Remy International, an U.S. based mechanical components supplier and Advanced Mechanical Products (AMP) have signed a letter of intent for a potential long-term electric motor supply agreement.

AMP performs electric vehicle conversion and, from now on, the company will use Remy’s HVH250 motors for its projects.

AMP has developed an electric drive train which offers a range of up to 150 miles and will be installed in current passenger vehicles. The first two cars available for AMP conversions are the GM Saturn Sky and the GM Pontiac Solstice.

The HVH250 is an advanced electric motor, which can also serve as a generator for electric and hybrid vehicles, built on Remy’s High Voltage Hairpin (HVH) technology. The company claims that it has one of the best torque and power density in the world. The unit can be installed in both electric vehicles (increasing their range) and hybrid vehicles (reducing the necessary power output of the combustion engine).

AMP will use Standard Remy HVH250 components to design and develop their own motor housing and interface components in order to create tailor-made applications for electric vehicles conversions.

"Our business relationship with AMP is another example of the ease in which the Remy HVH electric motor technology can be integrated seamlessly across a wide array of vehicle and off-road applications.  We are looking forward to working with AMP as they continue to grow their market share in the electrification of the automobile," said Remy CEO John Weber.
