A master of wood and iron shaping, Lorenzo Buratti is also a keen biker, and he’s now introducing his latest creation, the KTM 450 Flat Track.
It all started with a 2005 model year KTM EXC450, but here’s rather little of the original bike Lorenzo kept in place. The original endure suspensions had to be replaced, given the new purpose of the future build, so new racing ones have been installed. The original wheels gave way to two 19” ones, shod with flat-track tires and ready for dirt action.

Since the bike was all of a sudden too tall, Buratti knew it was time for the hack saw, and was quick in cutting the rear subframe off. A new, lower one was manufactured to lower the center of gravity and provide the rider with a more suitable position, with enhanced control over the bars and balance.

All the bodywork was ditched, and Buratti built an all-new monocoque body kit from fiberglass. That is, it also integrates the fuel tank, and is inspired from drag racing cars. Access to the engine is almost instantaneous, as the whole structure pivots on a rear hinge and can be easily lifted up for engine maintenance or tuning.

And speaking about tuning, Lorenzo Buratti also worked a bit on the bike’s engine, adding a balanced crankshaft and piston, and employing a custom exhaust. The bike also relies on an external starter. Not sure whether the radiator grille is the best match to this build as it is, but things can obviously be developed furthermore. Buratti can build modding kits for your KTM, and you could drop him a line to check on prices and options.
