Kovalainen Wins Second Turkish Practice

The second practice run at Istanbul Otodrom ended with Heikki Kovalainen finishing first, following a practice sessions which he dominated from beginning to end. The session was a close one, as no less than 16 cars finished within a 0.8 seconds time frame.

Behind Kovalainen came Fernando Alonso (2) and Robert Kubica (3), at a distance of 0.215 seconds, followed by Nakajima (4) and Sebastian Vettel (5). The Red Bull Racing driver had to make a stop at Turn 2, due to a possible driveshaft problem with his RB5.

Few incidents happened in the practice, aside from two spins for Lewis Hamilton and soft-Bridgestones related complaints made by the Ferrari drivers. Their remarks were substantiated as soft tires proved to be slower.

Nakajima managed to clinch the fourth position following a pass in the last chicane, when he got into an incident with Giancarlo Fisichella, as neither seem to give in and let the other pass. Fisichella ended up on the 18th place.

The sixth place was taken by Jarno Trulli, followed by Nico Rosberg and Rubens Barrichello. The top ten was completed by Mark Webber and Nelson Piquet. Ferrari's Massa managed to come in eleventh.
