Ice Man. The Finn renowned for saying “Leave me alone, I know what I’m doing,” on team radio. The racing driver who outpaced Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso in the 2007 Formula 1 season. Kimi is a man of many talents and many defects, but we love him for that and for his monosyllabic manner of answering too boring or too complicated questions.
Like any racing driver, Kimi started his career with karting. Then he competed in the European Formula Super A, Formula Ford, and Formula Renault series. But his first breakthrough was in the year 2000 when Raikkonen won seven out of ten events in the British Formula Renault 2000 series.

After that crucial season in Kimi’s career, the Sauber F1 team signed him for the 2001 season. Max Mosley voice concerns over granting the Super License to an inexperienced Kimi, but the Finn shut the old man’s mouth by winning a championship point in the Australian Grand Prix. At the end of the day, a talented driver can only do so much to race for championship points. Without the car that matched Kimi’s driving talent, the Ice Man wouldn’t have got into Formula 1.

That championship-winning machine is a 2000 Tatuus Formula Renault. Slated to fetch anything between £15,000 and £20,000 ($21,775 to $29,035) at the Race Retro Competition Car Sale on February 24, this open-wheeled single-seater car is perfect for track day junkies or for those who would rather preserve it in a garage as an investment.

The lightweight carbon fiber body shell is motivated by a 2,000 cc 16-valve engine. With 190 horsepower at the disposal of your right foot and a curb weight of 560 kilograms (1,234 lbs) including the driver, the petite machine driven by Raikkonen for Manor Motorsport in 2000 is as hardcore as low-tier motorsport gets.

Because of that and all the other reasons imaginable, we expect the bidding game on this ex-Kimi Raikkonen Formula Renault 2000 racer to be an extremely spirited affair.
