Eva Hakansson has been hard at work over the last two years, building the KillaJoule electric motorcycle, with the sole purpose to break speed records with it. Well, she recently managed to achieve her goal, by beating the official land speed record for an EV motorcycle with sidecar.
The 250 hp KillaJoule averaged a speed of 191.488 mph (306.380 km/h) over the flying mile, with the absolute top speed achieved on the day being an even more impressive 216.505 mph (346.408 km/h). Eva, a University of Denver graduate in engineering, built her bike around a A123 system battery pack and an EVO Electric Ltd. engine.

This piece of news is very promising, since she managed to get within 2.5 mph (4 km/h) of the 219 mph (350 km/h) land speed record held by a conventionally powered internal combustion motorbike. We appreciate her devotement to the cause, and we hope to see her at Pikes Peak, again, as back in 2010 she set a few records there, as well (albeit in a different vehicle).
