Kia Venga First Photos

With the Frankfurt Auto Show less than a month away, manufacturers who will attend have already begun releasing teaser images and first pics on the new models they will unveil at the event. This time is the turn of the Koreans over at Kia to preview their "all-new Venga B-segment MPV for Europe," prior to its world debut at the aforementioned event.

Aimed at taking on established market hits the likes of the Ford Fiesta, the Venga is designed, engineered and built it Europe. It will be offered with a choice of two engines, according to Autoexpress: a 1.4l petrol engine, developing 75 bhp and a 1.6l diesel, outputting 115 bhp. Both of them will be offered with start-stop technology (ISG).

When compared with it intended rival, the Fiesta, Kia's Venga comes in about the same package. The Korean car – if it can be named that -is a few millimeters longer than the Fiesta, fully put to use, Kia says, in the interior space. It comes with 60/40-split rear seats, as well as with a twin-level boot floor. The extra space feel of the interior is enhanced by the use of the slide panoramic glass roof.

The Venga will enter European markets later this year, the source notes, with the UK market likely to wait a bit longer for it, at least until early 2010. No prices are yet known, but they will likely rival with the ones Ford charges for the Fiesta.

Alongside the Venga, Kia will also debut in Frankfurt the facelifted version of their popular cee'd. The facelift will go on sale in the UK in early October.
