Kia Sets Q1 Record in the US

The new approach South Korean manufacturer Kia is taking in all fields of its activity proves to be working, after the carmaker posted yesterday record sales figures for the first quarter of the year in the US, as well as the all-time best March it had State-side.

The brand reported sales of 30,522 units, a 23.5-percent increase over the same period last year and 10.7-percent over the March record set in 2007. From the beginning of the year, Kia grew by 11.3 percent.

"Kia Motors is achieving record sales in the middle of the most aggressive new product launch cycle in company history that is delivering vehicles like the all-new Sorento that combine world-class design with the latest technology and convenience features,” B.M. Ahn, group president and CEO of KMA and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG) said in a release.

As you know, Kia is currently engaged in a massive overhaul of its image, products, marketing and just about everything related to its business.

In 2010, the carmaker plans two new vehicle introductions, as well as other upgrades across the existing range. Only this week at the New York International Auto Show, Kia unveiled the new Optima/Magentis, "a car that people will simply not expect from Kia."

“Groundbreaking products like the Soul, Forte, Forte Koup and Sorento have rapidly changed Kia’s DNA and elevated the brand’s profile, and are the driving force behind our sales records. We expect this trend to continue as new models come on line later this year.”
