One of America's favorite manufacturers (or at least on track of becoming one), Kia announced today it has partnered with online giant eBay Motors for the creation of the first major OEM brand on eBay.
To be found at the following link, the website will be used to market Kia vehicles perhaps in a more successful manner than the somewhat failed experiment GM tried last year. The website will allow customers to check the offers and prices of participating dealers and decide from where it is best to buy the car. So far, 345 Kia dealers have signed up to list their entire stock of new Kia vehicle.
"eBay Motors' large, multi-dimensional marketplace aligns perfectly with Kia's rapidly expanding brand and offers consumers a comprehensive and convenient shopping experience for our entire new vehicle lineup," said Tom Loveless, vice president of sales at Kia Motors.
The South Korean manufacturer took the decision to partner with eBay in an attempt to tap into the growing Internet auto market. According to data provided by J.D. Power and Associates, in 2010 17 percent more buyers took their business online than last year. 79 percent of them refer to specialized sites, other the manufacturers', for advice, info and comparison.
"Kia is one of the most innovative OEM brands in the market, and we're happy to work with them to extend dealers' new vehicle inventory to a national, online marketplace welcoming more than 14 million visitors each month," added Nicolas Franchet, eBay Motors senior director of US vehicles.
