Kia Cadenza Luxury Sedan Confirmed

Kia yesterday announced that the KND-5 concept car will enter production and will be sold on export markets as Cadenza. The car will be officially introduced in a number of countries outside Korea at international shows in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Dubai in the upcoming months.

"New Cadenza will showcase the continuing evolution in Kia's striking design language through the harmonious blend of light and lines. It will also present a new concept in luxury sedans in terms of performance and technology," Soon-Nam Lee, Director of the Overseas Marketing Group, Kia Motors Corporation, said in a press statement.

The car will boast bold headlamp design with LED lights. Inside, it comes equipped with a floating dashboard and a wide array of new technologies, including a heated steering wheel (for winter driving in cold markets), powered extendable seat cushions (for extra thigh support), automatic defogging of the windshield and ventilated front seats (for cool comfort in hot markets).

Kia hasn't mentioned the date when it intends to roll out the new model but it will most likely go on sale in 2010 after the public release at motor shows around the world.

Kia unveiled the KND-5 concept car at the Seoul Motor Show earlier this year and announced plans for a luxury sedan to be launched in the domestic market in late 2009.

"The aggressive and sophisticated KND-5 exemplifies Kia's futuristic design and values. As a concept car that presents the new direction of luxury sedan design, KND-5 will likely generate a lot of buzz at the Seoul Motor Show,"
Hyoung-Keun Lee, Senior Executive Vice President & COO, International Business Division, said back in April.
