Jeep Replaces CVT Gearbox With Six-Speed Auto for Patriot and Compass Models

Chrysler has announced that it will be replacing the CVT gearbox, which is now used in the Jeep Compass and Patriot models, with a six-speed alternative, which is more modern and we say it adds to the overall driving experience of any vehicle.
The 2014 model-year vehicles, the first to get the new gearbox, will begin rolling off the production line this March. The manufacturer has not announced any price changes over the previous model, yet the fact that they have decided to change the gearbox now, considering the fact that both the Compass and the Patriot are going out of production by the end of the year is a bit odd.

Another interesting aspect is the fact that the gearbox is not one of Chrysler’s own, and it is, in fact, the collaborative joint effort of Hyundai and Magna. The autobox, along with the DynaMax all-wheel drive system are used in the exact same combination in the Hyundai ix35 and the Kia Sportage.
