Jay Leno Rumored to Return to the Tube

Leno’s return to the TV set will however be a motor-related one, Bikewriter Mark Gardiner says. One of Lenos’ friends, Gardiner has often visited Jay in his garage on multiple occasions, most of the related to press activities, and among all the chit-chat, the TV star mentioned something about a new show he was thinking about.

Since after he decided to retire from the sets and continue with the web-based Garage series Jay Leno proved to be just as successful, it’s not surprising that a lot of broadcasters are eyeing to adding his future show to their rosters. “There’s a lot of people fighting for [the show]. NBC wanted to do a five-day a week show, but they wanted to control the scripting,” he reportedly told Gardiner.

No “scripted fake BS”

However, it looks like Jay Leno is thinking to take his TV show (if indeed there will be one) back to what they used to be, without excessive scripting from the station or producer. In the same discussion he had with Mark Gardiner, Leno reportedly said there was no way he would accept anyone controlling the scripting for the show.

Jay Leno has a lot of expertise in both the automotive and the motorcycle fields and he has indeed been a most spontaneous and charming host he has been all these years. It’s safe to believe that a more “open” approach to a motor show could indeed be a breath of fresh air in a rather stale TV scene dominated by overly controlled scripts and lacking a true, free vibe.
