Young British designer James Fox has won through from more than 1,100 entries to take one of the top two finalists in the 2014 Lexus Design Award.
The success will materialize through a trophy, cash support as well as professional mentoring in order to turn his concept into a full prototype that will be showcased in Lexus’ exhibition at this year’s Milan Design Week.
As the theme for this year’s competition was “Curiosity”, James came up with his “Magician” concept, a den-building kit for children, which will get built with the help from architect Arthur Huang.
German entrant Sebastian Scherer was also picked for the race towards the top prize, with his hand-blown glass lamp with iridescent finish. His “Iris” project will came true as a prototype with the help of designer Robin Hunicke.
