Jaguar is currently in the midst of a refining process under the financial protection of Tata Motors, with the company making sustained efforts to translate its identity into a new era. Fortunately, it seem that one step involved by this is the production of a sports car.
As you know, Jaguar gave the world the C-X16 green sports car concept last year, but this is far from receiving the production green light. However, global brand director Adrian Hallmark has recently told Inside Line that "Jaguar without a sports car is like Porsche without a 911."

Since a production version of the C-X16 is the simplest way for Jag to build a sports car, it means that the car could be produced, with the move expected to arrive in 2014 or 2015. This delay is caused by the fact that the British carmaker wants to focus on producing sales-driving models first - a 3-Series rival, as well as an SUV.

The C-X16 wouldn’t exactly be a Porsche 911 rival, as it would be placed somewhere between the rear-engined coupe and the Cayman R. This would also have another effect, allowing the XK range to move upmarket.
