Italian police found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, right at the border with Switzerland.
No, the gold was not owned by a green leprechaun. Actually it was found in a car that was trying to pass into the birthplace of neutrality. The car occupants, a family of five, claimed that they were on an Easter vacation, but their nervous behavior led the border police to make a detailed inspection of their vehicle.
The police was surprised to find a dozen gold bars worth about $6 million ( €4,611,126) in the storage compartments underneath the rear passenger floor. The 53-year-old driver who turned out to be a representative at a Swiss company, could not give any explanations about the gold's originns and why it was in his car.
The police confiscated the car and the large amount of gold, charging the driver with money laundering.
