Not long ago, our spy photographer partners captured an entire bundle of BMW prototypes while hiding from the winter snow at a fuel station. Interestingly, the roster was quite heavy with M options.
The quick-thinking man with the cam was somewhere in Northern Sweden and caught three ultra-hot models currently in the making, with the list including the BMW M5 sedan and Touring, plus the M3 CS Touring, which was actually barren of any camouflage save for the white of snow adorning its station wagon liftgate.

Of course, it's common knowledge that an M3 CS Touring would come to the party at one point in time, so the fire-setting commodities were the M5 siblings. As far as we know – after numerous spied prototypes, leaks, and official teasers – is that BMW wants to put to shame the Audi RS 6 Avant, including the recently-launched GT special edition, as well as the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S E Performance.

Topping the range of the all-new BMW 5 Series, the 2025 M5 will come in both sedan and station wagon guise later this year. Everyone and their mother are expecting a return of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. Still, it won't come alone – together with the gearbox, there's also a fifth-gen electric drive unit, most likely shared with the mighty (ugly) BMW XM flagship crossover SUV.

Naturally, everyone assumes that an M5 Competition version will mirror the 738-hp BMW XM Label Red. Some say that could be the base variant, actually, with the Competition punching above its weight to 750 or even 800 electrified ponies. Of course, do take that with a grain of salt, as it would feature a massive boost compared to even the current 626 hp (635 ps/467 kW) M5 CS. Speaking of the latter, we can safely presume that years from now, the electrified M5 CS will also make an appearance on the market. However, some folks are more eager than others and tend to take matters into their own hands or instead at the tip of their CGI brush, as is the case here with this unofficial design project.

More precisely, this virtual automotive designer, better known as a.c.g_design on social media, tries to help the BMW fanbase dream about what comes next after the regular M5 and M5 Competition models. Well, according to the pixel master, the follow-up would be the M5 CS Black Edition. With a look down nostalgia lane, thanks to the yellow-tinted LEDs and fashionable accents around the radiator grille plus the Y-spoke wheels, this unofficial BMW is not necessarily the most subdued high-performance executive sedan out there. So, do you like it or not?
