Infiniti really needed an image booster, which would make all their other cars look even more appealing than they actually are. They were planning on doing this with a production version of the frankly excellent Emerg-E concept, which was even driven at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, this year.
Sadly, new information suggests that, in fact, they will not be putting it into production at all. The news comes courtesy of autocar.co.uk, who asked the CEO of Infiniti, Johan de Nysschen, while at the Paris Motor Show. He said that "the Emerg-e is not planned for future production at all, but it does offer an insight into our future powertrains and design direction."
This has two connotations attached to it: one positive, and one negative. The positive one si the fact that future Infiniti models will look very good, if the Emerg-E is anything to go by. The bad news is obvious - the Emerg-E is not getting made.
