India Will Get Renault Duster in 2012

The idea of a cheap affordable compact SUV fits the Indian market quite well, so it’s only natural that Renault decided it’s best to bring the Duster there. According to an official statement made today, the model will be fully assembled in the country at a plant in Chennai and will hit the market in the second half of next year.

In order to cater to Indian customers’ specific demand when it comes to value for money, the Duster has been enhanced and improved upon, but we expect it will be oriented toward budget buyers, as Renault also intends to bring the Koleos to the Indian SUV segment.

The French carmaker has a total of five market launches scheduled over a period of 15 months. It all started with the Fluence, which has already found its first customers there. The second is the Koleos that we just mentioned, while the third will be a new compact car built on an Alliance platform that will represent the core range model. Together with the Duster and another vehicle that is still a mystery, Renault hopes to bring a youthful lineup.

Renault India is currently in the middle of expanding its dealer network from 14 at present to 40 by the end of the year and 100 at end-2012 (covering 55 cities or 90% of the market).

The Duster and all other cars offered by the French carmaker will be covered by a comprehensive package called “Renault Complete Care”, comprising of four-year/80,000 km warranty and a one-year warranty for maintenance and repair, free service coupons at 2,000 km, 10,000 km and 20,000 km, and 24/7 assistance.

“We understand that the Indian customer is extremely value conscious, hence our commitment to globally benchmarked product quality, service and after-sales quality and network quality,” says Jerome Stoll, Executive VP, Sales and Marketing.
