It's not the first time these two acceleration monsters go head-to-head with each other, but that's not going to keep you from watching one more race between them, is it?
It's not like a football fan will not watch the finals just because it's the same two teams as the year before. Sure, the parallel doesn't really stand since team sports are completely unpredictable, whereas drag races between stock cars will only offer tiny variations. Still, that doesn't change the fact that seeing these two battle it out on the track is a real spectacle.

Porsche has always enjoyed plenty of respect in the industry, both from the other manufacturers and the public alike. However, that respect was built more on the brand's racing pedigree, not necessarily the raw power of its vehicles. However, every once in a while, the Germans like to remind us the only reason they're not the kings of drag racing is that they can't be bothered.

First, it was the Porsche 918 Spyder, which still holds the record for the quickest production car in a quarter-mile race, despite the fact it was introduced all the way back in 2013. Then, the Taycan Turbo S came along and managed to beat Tesla at its own game, despite all the opposition and nit-picking from the fans of the American brand. Finally, we have the 992 Turbo S that was introduced this year and wasted no time becoming the car to beat in a drag race.

As we said, the latter two have locked horns before, but only over a short quarter-mile race. How about a half-mile confrontation, then? Will the Taycan's transmission help it where other EVs usually fail, or will the 911 Turbo S continue its winning streak?

Well, considering how a quarter-mile race between these two unfolds, there's really only one way the confrontation can end, and that's with a win for the gasoline-powered Porsche. The Taycan should manage to get ahead right after the start, but from there the 911 will reel it back, overtake it, and then keep putting distance between themselves.

This race, however, doesn't exactly follow that recipe to a tee. From the editing and what our gut is telling us, we feel as though the ending is a bit staged. Even so, it's still entertaining, and after the two are done with their little pissing contest, they are joined on the track by a Porsche 718 Cayman S and a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid for one last race. Pointless, we know, but isn't that just the sexiest looking family you've ever seen?
