Two years ago, back in July 2021, the Hyundai Motor Company opened the order books for the Santa Cruz. A unibody pickup, just like the Ford Maverick, the South Korean alternative used to retail at $23,990 plus $1,185 for the destination freight charge. Hyundai's truck has just entered the 2024 model year, and naturally, the suggested retail price skyrocketed to $26,650 plus a $1,335 freight charge.
Other than higher prices for every trim level, the 2024 lineup further bids farewell to the SEL Premium. Its place will be taken by the XRT, a rugged specification that builds on top of the SEL with Activity Package. It's a well-equipped pickup that slots between the range-topping Limited ($41,070) and Night ($38,120). Exclusively offered with the 2.5-liter turbo and the dual-clutch automatic transmission, the Santa Cruz XRT carries a recommended price of $39,850, which is V6-powered Honda Ridgeline territory.

Codenamed 90462AT5 as opposed to 90472AT5 for the Limited and 90442AT5 for the Night, the XRT comes – rather understandably – standard with HTRAC all-wheel drive. What else do you get for your moolah?

A whole bunch of stuff is the answer, including Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Hyundai Digital Key, leather on the steering wheel and shift knob, H-Tex black upholstery for the seats, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The list of standard equipment continues with an XRT emblem on the tailgate, specific wheel center caps in orange, black-painted mirror caps and door handles, wide fender flares for a more rugged look, some garnish on the lower part of the doors, bed rails and side steps, plus dark fascias.

The dark theme continues with the dark chrome on the grille and tailgate handle, as well as the matte-black lettering on the tailgate. Across the board, the Santa Cruz now flaunts bi-LED projector headlamps. From the SEL up, the unibody truck boasts dual-zone automatic temperature control with an automatic defogger.

The Night grade is rocking the same H-Tex black upholstery as the XRT grade. For the SEL with Activity Package and up, customers are presented with the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and satellite navigation. All trims now come with steering wheel haptic feedback for the Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Sport Collision Avoidance Assist systems. Last but not least, paint colors remain unchanged from 2023.

Said colors are California Sand, Blue Stone, Hampton Gray, Sage Gray, Phantom Black, and Atlas White. As per the document attached below, Blue Stone will be discontinued from the palette after August 30.

Capable of 133 mph (214 kph) on full song, the Santa Cruz 2.5-liter turbo packs 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet (422 Nm). As for the naturally-aspirated engine, which features a torque-converter automatic, that would be 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet (245 Nm). The NA engine comes standard in FWD.
