Hyundai Kia to Use Eberspaecher Exhaust

German exhaust manufacturer Eberspaecher announced today that it would begin supplying South Korean automaker group Hyundai Kia with its products, through a partnerships signed this week with car supplier Wooshin Industrial.

The models of the two South Korean brands will be provided with the exhausts through a joint venture established by the two companies, Wooshin Eberspaecher. The products that will be used by the South Korean are hot ends, like particulate filters and catalytic converters, in addition to the muffler assemblies (cold ends - and exhaust manifolds) supplied by Wooshin.

"Thanks to the co-operative link-up with Wooshin we are able to expand our customer base to include Hyundai Kia," said Thomas Wuensche, Eberspaecher CEO. "With Eberspaecher's technological edge in diesel and hot end technology, Wooshin will be able to adopt an excellent strategic position in the domestic market".

As the collaboration between the two continues, the new joint venture will begin supplying its products for the cars manufactured by Hyundai Kia in markets other than the domestic one. Cars produced in countries like the US, India, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Brazil will also benefit from the new products.

The expansion of the German exhaust manufacturer into the South Korean market comes after several years of it doing business there through a sales office. The company will combine its know-how with the 330 strong workforce of the South Korean partner to produce the exhausts for Hyundai Kia (the Germans on their own employ 5,300 people wordlwide. The models which will get the new exhausts were not announced.
