Hyundai's N Division is gearing up for the introduction of the Ioniq 5 N in Australia. The model will launch during a special pre-sale event that will be hosted for 12 hours on September 15, which will allow interested parties to place an AU$2,000 (equaling US$1,289) deposit in order to secure a build slot.
Speaking of prices, customers will have to pay AU$111,000 (US$71,540) for the Ioniq 5 N, which makes it some AU$11,000 (US$7,090) more expensive than the Kia EV6 GT. Besides reserving a build slot, those who place a deposit on the brand's local website less than two weeks from today will also get a gift package. It includes a Hyundai N x Pelican set with two cases and a torch, and additional undisclosed merchandise said to total roughly AU$1,000 (US$645).

Hyundai will offer a single version of the performance-oriented electric crossover, with the only options being the AU$1,000 (US$645) Matte Paint and the AU$2,000 (US$1,289) Vision Roof. The exterior paint finishes include the Abyss Black, Performance Blue, Performance Blue Matte, Atlas White Matte, Atlas White, Ecotronic Gray, Cyber Gray, Soultronic Orange, and Gravity Gold Matte.

Powering the Ioniq 5 N is a dual-motor setup with the front one generating 166 kW (226 ps/223 hp) and the rear unit producing 282 kW (383 ps/378 hp). The total output is rated at 448 kW (609 ps/601 hp), and on Boost, it has 478 kW (650 ps/641 hp) to play with. The 84 kWh battery pack supports charging speeds of up to 350 kW, taking 18 minutes to be juiced up from 10% to 80%. The Korean car manufacturer says the vehicle needs only 3.4 seconds on N Grin Boost mode to sprint to 100 kph (62 mph) from rest, which makes it quicker than the Ferrari Enzo. As for the top speed, you're looking at 260 kph (162 mph). The total driving range will be announced during the local market launch.

Other highlights include the sporty exterior styling, N-tuned brakes backing up the 21-inch aluminum wheels shod in 275/35 Pirelli P Zero tires, quick-ratio steering rack, N-branded elements on the inside, N Active Sound +, N e-shift, N Pedal, N Drift Optimizer, and other stuff that further differentiates it from the non-N variants that entered production over two years ago, sharing many nuts and bolts with the Kia EV6, Genesis GV60, and Hyundai Ioniq 6.

Hyundai has already hosted the local premiere of the Ioniq 5 N during the World Time Attack Challenge at the Sydney Motorsport Park on September 1 and 2, where the vehicle was piloted by 'Drift King' Keiichi Tsuchiya of Japan. The first deliveries of the sporty electric crossover will kick off in the first quarter of next year.
