Last year, Toyota almost lost the title for the world's best-selling nameplate to the EV star from Tesla – Model Y. Of course, the corner-office head honchos still found a way to keep the accolade for the Japanese automaker.
Initially, most media outlets – including us – declared the Tesla Model Y the absolute winner after soundly beating the Toyota RAV4 crossover SUV. However, the Asian company still had a trick up its sleeve and counted all Corolla models to the sales tally, including the Corolla Cross. Tesla doesn't add Model 3 and Model Y deliveries, although technically, they're just as related as the Corolla passenger cars and Corolla Cross.

So, this accolade has become just as debatable as the eternal question surrounding who counts better all the different Nürburgring Nordschleife record lap times. However, it's still easy to emphasize the incredible value of the Corolla nameplate for Toyota – even though passenger cars aren't what they used to be, these Corollas still rack up the deliveries. Thus, it is no wonder that everyone and their mother are interested in the well-being of the Japanese nameplate.

That includes the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, and more precisely Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media or burlappcar.com) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm. His latest CGI idea comes in the form of the thirteenth generation of the Toyota Corolla – the sedan, one of America's most cherished versions.

Logic dictates that Toyota could and should develop a 2025 or 2026 Corolla to fight against the announced 2025MY refresh of the Honda Civic and the arrival of the Civic Hybrid. The pixel master wonders about the potential design of the Corolla since the 2025 Camry is widely regarded as a 'facelift' of the current generation instead of an all-new model, and the same could happen with the compact best-seller. Still, the CGI expert dares a leap of faith and proposes an all-new styling for the Corolla, which is eerily close to the Prius hybrid.

Interestingly, he envisions two variants – ICE-powered and hybrid plus what looks like a fully electric model if Toyota ever decides to start that long-delayed EV adoption. Of course, do take all of these renderings with a healthy dose of salt, as nothing is official from Toyota just yet. So, do you want to see Toyota come out with a fresh Corolla to battle the 2025 Honda Civic and Civic Hybrid? Also, do you think they will opt for a deep facelift like with the 2025 Camry or an all-new treatment that could either bring it closer to the Prius or further set it apart to avoid cannibalization?
